Located in historic Richmond, Virginia, USA, the Richmond Lions R.F.C. is the area's competitive Men's Rugby Club (Division II). Established in 1963, the Lions offer quality rugby and a wide variety of social events throughout the year to athletes of all ages, experience, and backgrounds, and are one of only a few clubs in the country that own their own rugby pitch. New members are always welcome.

Spring 2014 Matrix Season

The Lions move into a promising Spring with a good chance to lock up a playoff spot as four matrix matches (2 scheduled, 2 make up) will be played over the next two months. The team looks good and with solid numbers and great attitudes, we are always improving.

As always, new players are welcome, please fill out a new player form and we will be in touch about how to get started.

Pardon our dust...

We are revamping our site, so updates may be a little lackluster. The best place to find out what's happening is our facebook fan page where you will find complete schedules and up-to-the-minute updates until we are able to get our new site up and running.

Sevens Season Concludes with Richmond the Mid-Atlantic Champions

Ater a long day that saw fantastic team play, strong responses to adversity and a lot of hard work in stifling heat from our Sevens Side, the Richmoond Lions RFC was crowned Open Division Champion of the Mid Atlantic Rugby Football Union. Tough competition from determined contendors from Philadelphia and Maryland made the chapionship that much sweeter. Congrats to all of our 2013 Sevens players for putting our program at the top.

Fundraising and Amazon Affiliate Program

We are working on improving Richmond Rugby, and while progress often feels slow, we are getting to where we want to be. Of course this costs money and our new fundraising coordinator, Nate Sirota, has taken on the task of raising money for all of our affiliated groups (Richmond Lions, Lions Youth, Foundation, Old Boys, etc.).

One of Nate's great ideas is hooking up with Amazon as part of their affiliate program, where we get signficant money for each purchase IF you get there using one of our links. So when you do your holiday shopping on Amazong, please go there by clicking on the below banner!

Women's Team

No rugby club is complete without a women's side, the Richmond Lions are working on developing our women's program. Fill out our new player form and/or contact Rachel Komosinski if you are interested. We will be organizing various activities to introduce the game to intrested players over the next couple of months! Get involved and check it out!

Interested in Rugby?

Whether it be Youth, Women's, Men's, or Old Boys, we provide year round opportunities to all interested in playing rugby. Anytime is a good time to see what we're all about, come on out, you'll find a group of rugers who are eager to accept new players into the fold and spread one of the world's greatest games. We have a lot of fun both on and off the field and are always in need of eager athletes of all ages and abilities.

Please fill out our New Player Form. You can also contact Vice President Tony.

Richmond Lions Youth Rugby

In addition to the Sevens season, our club stays busy during the summer by running Youth Rugby. For over three years the Lions have been working hard to see our beloved sport grow locally. Try to pitch this to all of your friends, coworkers and family with kids between the ages of 5 and 18! Please send them to the Lions Youth Rugby Website and keep your eyes open for chances to volunteer and help out with this important project.
