Located in historic Richmond, Virginia, USA, the Richmond Lions R.F.C. is the area's competitive Men's Rugby Club (Division II). Established in 1963, the Lions offer quality rugby and a wide variety of social events throughout the year to athletes of all ages, experience, and backgrounds, and are one of only a few clubs in the country that own their own rugby pitch. New members are always welcome.

Oyster Roast 2011

The Lions traditional end of the year event will take place on 12/10 this year at 2911 Ellwood Avenue. There will be beer and oysters for everyone. Stay tuned for more details, we are still working on a price, save the date on your calendar and make sure you bring as many folks out as possible. It will be a great day.

Winter Sevens

We will be putting in a sevens side for this local tournament that takes place on 12/3. Contact Billy Tilson at sevens@richmondlions.com if you're interested in playing.

USA Rugby announces insurance with membership!

Finally, cheap, rugby specific medical insurance! USA rugby has reached a deal whereby all players are insured at matches, training sessions and travel to and from. The only thing you have to do is make sure your annual membership with USA Rugby is up to date. This is a great program and if lack of insurance is keeping you off the pitch you can rest easy. Fall Season is here

The Fall schedule is up (check the calendar) and it's pretty full. We will like get another match in during September but other than that it shouldn't change much. Fall training starts 8/2, that's right around the corner! We are set to have a very strong showing this Fall, come out and take part. We will most likely be training at Crestview Elementary School, conveniently located right off of interstate 64 and only five minutes from the cities center.

Women's Team

No rugby club is complete without a women's side, the Richmond Lions are working on developing our women's program. Fill out our new player form and/or contact Rachel Komosinski if you are interested. We will be organizing various activities to introduce the game to intrested players over the next couple of months! Get involved and check it out!

Whether it be Youth, Women's, Men's, or Old Boys, we provide year round opportunities to all interested in playing rugby. Anytime is a good time to see what we're all about, come on out, you'll find a group of rugers who are eager to accept new players into the fold and spread one of the world's greatest games. We have a lot of fun both on and off the field and are always in need of eager athletes of all ages and abilities.

Richmond Lions Youth Rugby

In addition to the Sevens season, our club stays busy during the summer by running Youth Rugby. For over three years the Lions have been working hard to see our beloved sport grow locally. Try to pitch this to all of your friends, coworkers and family with kids between the ages of 5 and 18! Please send them to the Lions Youth Rugby Website and keep your eyes open for chances to volunteer and help out with this important project.
