Back to Fifteens for a week!
The Lions will be back to Rugby Union this week as we train for this Saturday's matches against the Marchwood Dolphins. If you plan on playing Saturday, get out and earn your sport this week, there is plenty to cover!
Marchwood Dolphins Tour Stop This Weekend
Our good friends the Marchwood Dophins (a military team from Portsmouth, England) are back in the USA and will be stopping in Richmond for a weekend of Rugby and Fun. We will kick off the fun on Friday night, 6/26, with Friday Cheers at Brown's Island. That Saturday we will play an A and B side of Fifteens followed by a Richmond Pub Crawl. We will finish the weekend with a game of Sunday touch and a dip in the River. Log on to the forum for more details; don't miss this weekend, it's sure to be a great time for all.
For Saturday, game time is 1PM, we need rookies to report to the field at 11AM and everyone else to be there by 11:30AM. It will be quite warm and humid, so be sure to bring water.
City of Richmond Champions!
Congrats to the Lions who won 2009 cross town bragging rights as they beat James River 43-5 under the lights.

Seven Pines (The field formerly known as Sandston or the Whiteside Pitch)
The Richmond Rugby Foundation has worked hard over the years to achieve the lofty goal of aquiring and developing a plot for hosting Rugby matches. In March of 2006 the Lions and Richmond's Old Boys played the first ever match on the grounds of Seven Pines. This year we opened our spring season with a solid victory against Quantico at Seven Pines, the first match and victory against a visiting club on our own land.
With the further improvements taking place at present, goal posts up and big plans for the future, one of the East Coast's oldest Rugby clubs will soon have a premier, club owned facility to both host events and compete on. Click here to read more about future plans and chances to help out.
